Second Semester Sets Sail

We begin second semester this week with each class engaging in the following activities:

American Literature students will begin a research unit while simultaneously reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Our first research assignment will include background presentations on a number of Roaring 20's topics. Students will be paired up and create Google presentations shared with me so we can all learn from each team's research. By the end of February, each student will also complete an individual research paper 4-6 pages, MLA format. Students may choose topics of individual interest. Details will follow.

World Literature students will begin a unit on Macbeth. The play will be acted out in class and followed up with homework and classwork analyzing particular monologues and/or soliloquies. Students will choose one passage from the play of fourteen lines or more to memorize and recite for a speaking and listening grade.

Senior Poetry students will begin the process of close reading and annotation of poetry. Course expectation letters will go home Tuesday and are expected back to me by Friday.
